ABOUT US
What do you bid? That’s the question the Martin Auction Company will be asking you throughout any auction day.
Lyle and Judy Martin were married on horseback in 1973. They farm and raise cattle on Highway 89, West of Orleans, Nebraska. Their family includes sons Beau, who lives Northwest of Orleans, Roudy of Alma, Nebraska, daughters, Georgia of Loup City, Nebraska and twin girls Lincey and Lacey of Overton, Nebraska. They enjoy four grandchildren, Lance, DeLanie, Wyatt and Berkley.
Lyle became interested in auctioneering in 1975 when he worked with McCann/Murdoch and at the Oxford Sale Barn. Over the years, he has also worked with Dean Dallmann (Kort Dallmann Auction Company) as well as Muirhead Auction and Cornwell Auction.
In 2004, Lyle and son, Beau, attended auctioneer school in Mason City, Iowa. It was then when Martin Auction Company was born.
On any given “Auction Day” you will find Lyle and Beau selling goods to the highest bidder. Judy does the clerking for items sold.
Georgia takes bids and assists with clerking duties. Roudy is the ring man. He looks for bids and takes offers from the crowd. Lincey does the work necessary to put together attractive and eye catching sale bills. Lacey, clerks and is in charge of the lunch stand along with Lincey. Mary Robison and Sherri Bergen are cashiers for the day.
” You never know what will happen at an auction,” stated Lyle. “I’ve seen a John Deere Pedal Tractor sell for $7,000.00 and a Winchester Gun sell for $27,000.00 We’ve met a lot of smiling faces over the years.”
For some attendees, the day is social as well as finding something you can’t live without. You can meet old friends and make new ones. With good food and conversation, it’s a great way to spend the day.
